To start our season of Tuesday Talks, David Parker from Forestside will be talking on ‘The Art of Coarse Computing’.
David has a degree in Mathematics and worked for West Sussex County Council starting as a programmer and progressed through the ranks to become IT Service Manager, managing a staff of nearly 200 running all of the IT systems for the County Council and external clients such as the Police and Magistrates Courts as mentioned above together with systems for District Councils, the Fire Service and the Area Health service.
David’s talk will have very little about the technical aspects of IT; it will be more about the stories he has to tell of the people that he met along the way and some amusing anecdotes about life in the IT world.
The hall will open at 7.10pm and the bar will be open for sales of beer, wine and soft drinks.Entrance will be £1 per person to assist with the costs of running the hall.
The second talk in this year’s series will be on Tuesday July 19th and will be presented by Roy Fulker with a title of ‘A sideways glance at modelling’. The modelling in question has nothing to do with catwalks, clay or railways. More details in next month’s Octagon.
